Hope Haven’s My Day program in Sibley was busy volunteering for a special program this summer – “Grab and Go Meals”. This program is part of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Summer Food Service Program started to ensure that students received a nutritious daily meal. These meals were made available for free to individuals aged 18 and under.

Sibley’s My Day program participated by helping organize and handout meals to cars that pulled up to the distribution site. Each bag contained breakfast meals and lunch meals. The bags included items like cereal bars juices fruits string cheese macaroni & cheese deli turkey sandwiches cartons of milk and more.

This group also enjoyed other volunteering activities in the community like picking up litter and garbage and sharing coffee with community members. They also participated in some fun leisurely activities as well – like viewing a movie at the Washington Pavilion Cinedome in Sioux Falls attending area baseball games and checking out festivals like the Tulip Festival in Orange City and the Spencer Heritage Festival.
