Hope Haven held its 21st Annual Fishing Benefit on Friday June 7th at the Iowa Great Lakes. Over 60 fishermen participated in the benefit. The event raised more than $10 000 with sponsorships from local businesses along with contributions from the fishing participants. Proceeds from the event will support Hope Haven’s local and international service programs for people with disabilities.

This year’s grand prize winner was Jim Schelling of Orange City IA with 1.7lb walleye. He was awarded with a prestigious championship jacket and he keeps the traveling trophy in his possession for one year. Following a great day of fishing on the Iowa Great Lakes the participants enjoyed eating a delicious pork loin sponsored by Harthoorn Farms near Doon IA.
